Our Beginning

Rooted in Community. Built for Justice.

The Society for Environmental Conservation (SEC) is a legally constituted Liberian civil society organization with registration number MPAE/NGO/AC/: 0187. The organization was established in 2006 and registered on December 8, 2008 in Monrovia.

SEC's mission is to promote and protect ecologically-sustainable environmental justice through participatory development that results in equality, equal opportunities, and strong community ownership for all.

Forestry & Biodiversity

Protecting Rainforests for Future Generations

The aim of SEC's Forestry and Biodiversity Conservation program is to promote sustainable and equitable management of Liberia's remaining tropical rainforest while empowering local communities in biodiversity-rich areas to sustainably care for and equitably benefit from available natural resources for the long-term future.
